You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — over $1200 worth, to be exact. The winner will receive a complimentary session with Means A Lot Photography, a 16×20 gallery wrapped canvas print, and a CD containing all of the high resolution digital files with print release.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a free session and one digital file. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside within a 1 hour drive of Heber City, UT. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* The winning session will take place before July 31, 2010.

If you don’t know someone that could use this, pass the link on! Post it on your blog, facebook, myspace, email it to your friends and family because I’m sure they could spread the love to someone they might know.

* You must e-mail me the full story : laurameans@me.com.  Please put “giving is awesome” in the subject line.

The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, December 15, 2009.  The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve — so get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,

Laura

P.S. If you are outside of my area and want to nominate someone, check out http://www.givingisawesome.com and find a participating photographer near you!

I had the pleasure of having this gorgeous little girl in studio.  I have had the chance to photograph her a few times and everytime I am blown away by her beauty.

I think she looks like a young Reese Witherspoon here with her pouty lips…

Alexis: LOVE the first one! Colors are great!

I know I am a little late getting your gallery uploaded so here is one more to hold you off a little longer.  I love the eye contact in this one and her serene expression.  She is such a doll!

Kelleen: Oh, thanks for posting that Laura. Today was her birthday - what a fun birthday treat. You even disguised the bad hairdo. You're magic.

Daniel: Laura! We need individual pictures of all the kids for a family party tomorrow... individual, and a family. Ill probably come over to get some.

I had a great time hanging out with two fun boys.  We played games, we hid from their mom, we talked about stinky feet, and, oh yeah, and we snapped a few shots of them in between the laughs and giggles.  Thanks for making the trip up to see me… Here are just a few I have processed so far. Enjoy your sneak peek!

Brittany: Oh I love these!!! I have two boys about the same age and they are soooo hard to get good pictures of. Their mom will treasure these I'm sure. Good job!

Anne: Oohh, I love their outfits. These are such sweet shots.

misty Jones: These are gorgeous!

I saw this sweet family exactly a year ago while portfolio-building.  Remember their session?  Now they came back to get some updated pictures in studio.  Their mom didn’t want to buy the “school pictures” again and I don’t blame her!  School pictures cannot get natural expressions when they are shuttled through in a line and told to smile.  When you add more time, a few jokes, maybe a bribe or two, and much more flattering lighting, you end up with pictures that truly showcase your child’s personality and capture the memory of them at this time.  Enjoy your sneak peek!

It is always fun trying to get a shot of 5 kids together!
